Seven people were killed on Monday afternoon in separate road fatalities. The Police in Hoedspruit outside Phalaborwa and Mokopane outside Polokwane are still investigating the two separate incidents.
It is alleged that in the early hours of Monday along the Willows road outside Hoedspruit, two motor vehicles, a Toyota Yaris and Nissan bakkie driving opposite directions collided head on and both drivers and one passenger from the Yaris died instantly.
Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said “the deceased were identified as Pholosho Mashile, Justice Mgiba and Kenneth Nthlamo”.
Meanwhile in Mokopane outside Polokwane, four people were killed and three were seriously injured on Monday afternoon.
It is alleged that two motor vehicles collided head-on along the N1 between the two Sasol garages 3km away from Nyl plaza toll gate in the Mokopane Policing area.
It is alleged that Mazda 3 was traveling towards the northern direction and the VW Polo was travelling towards the opposite direction when Polo lost control and collided head on with the Mazda 3.
Ngoepe said “the cause of this losing of control by the Polo driver is still unknown. Cases of culpable homicides were opened by both Police Stations.
