Thousands of municipal workers in Limpopo will take part in municipal sport initiative

Thousands of municipal workers across Limpopo province are expected to take part in this year’s Internal –Municipal Sport of South Africa ( IMISSA) Limpopo games to be held in Phalaborwa between the 3rd and 4th of June 2017.
Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality in partnership with South African Local Government (SALGA) together with Internal- Municipal Sport of South Africa (IMSSA) will host the initiative.
Ba-phalaborwa municipality spokesperson, Jonas Mahesu said “the games which was established in 2007, are part of Municipal wellness initiative that encourages healthy lifestyle, fostering community involvement and creating social platform for municipal employees”.
The annual games are hosted by different Municipality under bidding system and municipalities participate in different sporting codes upon with the host municipality.
Mahesu said “the following facilities which includes Lulekani Stadium, Hans Merensky and Impala Park Stadium will be the official venues for the games.
“The Municipal employees will battle it out in different sporting codes which includes soccer, netball, volley ball, golf, tennis, and darts among others”. Mahesu added
Mahesu said the municipality is proud to host the games and trust that the tournaments will boost the economy of Ba-Phalaborwa as thousands of people are expected to visit the town, we envisage economic major boost of local business and hospitality industry.
