PMC remains shut as the negotiations remain deadlocked

Palabora Mining Company, (PMC) Communication officer, Lydia Kgadebe said ” they’re going to meet with Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) President, Joseph Mathunjwa in Polokwane on Saturday. The union is demanding an increase in wages of 12% while the mine is offering 8%.

AMCU members had barricaded all entrances and exits to the PMC as their wage negotiations with mine management remain deadlocked.

Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said “Police are deployed in the area, and the situation was under control on Friday”.

The strike has been ongoing since Wednesday.
