Unrest erupted in Vuwani after the adjournment of community gathering

Unrest erupted in Vuwani on Sunday, just after President Jacob Zuma urged members of the community to restore peace in the area.

Police said the unrest continued after the adjournment of community gathering at Nandoni sports field. Six vehicles, one of them belonging to the police, three belonging to the SABC and the other two are privately owned were damaged.

“All the vehicles had their windows smashed by the rampant protesters who also overturned and pelted four VIP toilets with stones”. Police said

Limpopo police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said “the police immediately brought the situation under control and arrested four suspects between the age of 18 and 31. They will appear in court soon on charges of Malicious Damage to Property. Police will continue monitoring the area”.
