Inpreparation: Ba- Phalaborwa held indigenous games at Lulekani

Over the weekend Ba-phalaborwa Municipality held  indigenous games at Lulekani Stadium. In the statement issued by the Municipality, Ba-phalaborwa is in the quest to revive cultural games such as stick fighting, khokho and Ncuva.

The event was done in preparation of the much anticipated district indigenous games which will take place in Ba- Phalaborwa in June at Impala Park Stadium.

The glittering occasion was attended by Ward 9 Counsellor Victor Rapatsa who was also the acting Mayor of the day, Ward committee members, Youths and Senior Citizens from across all the wards and delegations from the provincial department of Arts & culture.

Participants are expected to battle it out on various sporting codes such as Morabaraba, khadi, Itonga amongst others.

The 2017 district indigenous games will be held at Impala Park stadium on the 24th of June 2017.

The Chairperson of Ba-Phalaborwa Sports Confederations Fani Maluleke called upon communities to witness these unique games as spectators to encourage the participants to give out their ultimate best.

All 5 local Municipalities, including Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality under Mopani District formed their teams through local selection.

Kgoshi Lucas Pilusa, Director in the Municipal Manager said the games will impacts Ba-Phalaborwa’s economic advancement.
