It’s alleged that members of Tzaneen and Ritavi police stations jointly recovered a Mercedes Benz that was hijacked from Murudjie village in Bolobedu.

Police said ” the unknown number of suspects on Friday night accosted the victim just after arriving at the gate, hijacked and kidnapped him. They then drove with him in Lenyenye where they also kidnapped his girlfriend”.

“The police were patrolling in the vicinity and the suspects, when noting the patrol van, they sped off towards Lephephani village with both victims in the car”. Police said

“Another patrol van was at hand to block the route of the fleeing suspects. They then stopped, jumped out and fled on foot into the nearby bushes; leaving the victims in the car”. Police added

Police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said “the coordination by the police in Tzaneen Cluster solved a carjacking incident in possibly a record time and prevented a possible rape or murder”.

The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo LT. General Nneke Ledwaba commended all members involved and concluded by sending a strong warning that the police will continue limiting the space for criminals to operate.
