The MEC for the Department of Co-operative Governance, Human settlements and Traditional Affairs(CoGHSTA), Mme Makoma Makhurupetje held a graduation ceremony in Mavambe village outside Giyani on Friday.
MEC has handed over certificates to 165 graduates through Youth Brigade programme in Lim 345 Municipality.
The department in partnership with National Youth Development Agency(NYDA) and National Home Builders Registration Council started the programme in which the youth are introduced into the construction world by given Construction Skills Development.
As this year marks 41th anniversary of Soweto uprising in which everyone is celebrating youth month, the youth of Malamulele under Lim 345 Municipality are celebrating the month with construction Skill certificate in their hands, the certificates will be used to participate in the building of 1,5 million houses.
The event was attended by different stake holders, councillors, Chiefs and pastors. NYDA Joy Maimela congratulated all the programme graduates ” we acknowledge all your hard work, as NYDA we know you are going to face challenges but this is the first step, you should go out there and create employment by being involved in Entrepreneurship. NYDA is going to support you”. Maimela said
Meanwhile, Vhembe District is facing higher rates of unemployment amongst the youth in the whole province.
The MEC also congratulated all 165 graduates for being part of this programme as it is going to help not Lim 345 but the whole Vhembe District.
The MEC said ” we are going to include you in the projects of building houses by the department. I want to build 40 houses in Malamulele which would be handed over in September, I want you to be part of this project”.
The MEC also thanked NYDA and NHBRC for their efforts in the programme.
