Malamulele- A body of a 16 year old girl was found in the bushes near Shingwedzi river in Malamulele on Thursday.
An incident which police believe is related to continuous ritual killings in the Province surfaced after a massive hunt for a missing girl, Rirhandzu Manganyi from Gumbani village in Malamulele.
According to the statement released by provincial Police on Friday, the deceased left home on 2nd of July to nearby bushes to releave herself and never returned home.
The deceased dismembered body was found by local boys who went for fishing at the river on Thursday. The statement read.
The motive behind Manganyi’s killing is unknown, but possibility of ritual murder cannot be ruled out.
Provincial Police Commisioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba said rutual killings have now become a warrying factor in Mopani and Vhembe District.
“Similar incidents in which people, especially women, go missing and later found dead have become a worrying factor”. Ledwaba added
General Ledwaba called all communities to work with the police to bring to an end criminal and inhumane activities in the province.
“Police will not rest until all perpetrators and their accomplices are brought to books”.
