PFM station manager, Sello Lepedi delivering his eulogy on Saturday said “Ba- phalaborwa Municipality mayor, Pule Shayi played a vital role in ensuring that the veteran presenter received a dignified funeral”.
“You will recall that the situation in this family is bad, we were forced to ask the honourable Mayor to intervene and I’m pleased to announce that the Mayor helped us without hesitation”, Lepedi said.
Mayor Shayi was an instrumental in the establishment of Phalaborwa FM in 2004. However he left the station after his broadcasting stint to pursue a career in teaching, Lepedi added.
The mayor’s name was mentioned several times by mourners who came to pay their last respect to the late ‘Gibas’.
