Giyani- Agreement reached after Giyani nursing campus students protest over living conditions

Giyani- Limpopo Nursing College in Giyani Campus have reached an agreement with Student Representative Council (SRC) following the Students illegal protest on Wednesday morning.

Students embarked on a protest over service delivery.

Their demands were that the management should renovate students residence, toilets and fix power cuts amongst other things.

The situation was tense in the morning as they closed their campus main gate with burning tyres and dustbins.

No vehicle was allowed to enter or leave the campus.

Public order policing (POP) monitored the situation since in the morning.

Giyani View understands that some students had to jump the fence in order to get food off campus.

Students sang the struggle songs and vowed to continue protesting until their gravencies are addressed by the management.

Giyani Views also understands that students representatives held a meeting with the management to seek a way forward to address their griviences.

According to well placed sources within SRC, college management promised to addrees all students griviences

“We have come to agreement with the management, renovations have commenced, and the electricity is fixed”, the source said.

 

“They have already fixed electricity so we have called off the protest”, the source added.
