THOHOYANDOU- Hawks’s Serious Corruption Unit members have on Wednesday, 19 July 2017 arrested a 37 year old police sergeant attached to Thohoyandou Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) and three petrol attendants for fraud.
Sergeant Elvis Muntshedzi (37) who was arrested for fraud together with three petrol attendants was granted R5000 bail by Thohoyandou magistrate court today.
His co-accused the three petrol attendants were granted R2000 bail each. The case was postponed to 29 September for further investigation.
Limpopo hawks spokesperson Captain Matimba Maluleke said the sergeant allegedly booked in the state car without a petrol card during April this year which he continued using to fill petrol in his private car and other cars through the assistance of petrol attendants to the value of R38 000-00.
“The Hawks acted swiftly after a tip-off from some residents about the dealings that were running between the sergeant and those petrol attendants.” Said Captain Maluleke
“The suspects are facing fraud charges.” Concluded Maluleke
