Tshivenda female rapper artist Dineo Matshotshi (25) known as Ladydee, is willing to fight for fellow females to get recognition in male dominated music industry.
“It’s hard being a woman in this industry, people do not take you serious despite being talented and able to rap. It’s about time someone take a stand and fight against this discrimination”, Said Ladydee Matshotshi was born in Makwarela Township, outside Sibasa.
She has been making music since her childhood years where she started singing at church and also learnt how to play various music instruments.
Ladydee has been recording music since 2010 and releasing only singles.
She is part of the emerging trend in Vhembe which raps in vernacular Tshivenda.
She haven’t released an album yet because she was still studying towards electric engineering. Ladydee will start to focus more on her music now since she completed her qualification. Listening to her singles played by various radio stations within the province keeps her going.
“I want to prove to the world that female rappers are also capable of making good music through hardwork regardless of all challenges “, She added. Ladydee is currently working towards releasing her debut album.
