Polokwane- Seshego Regional Court on Monday,14th August 2017 sentenced 25 year old man, Alex Talent Chauke to life imprisonment for murder and added 40 years jail time.

Chauke was arrested for crimes ranging from attempted murder, house breaking, armed robbery, theft and escaping from police custody while on trial.

Police in Limpopo welcomed the imposed long term jail sentence after he appeared in court on Monday for sentencing.

Provincial Police Spokesperson Lt. Col Maontshe Ngoepe said Chauke broke into the deceased , Ignatius Petrus Oosthuisen (30) house and stabbed him to death on the early hours of the 5th of May 2015.

The deceased’s wife (27) was injured in her arm during the incident.
Ngoepe said Police at the time started with investigations and later identified and arrested Chauke along Bok street within Polokwane CBD.

Provincial Commisioner Lt. General Nneke Ledwaba thanked the police for job well done.

“The Provincial Commissioner LT. General Nneke Ledwaba has commended the Polokwane Detectives who were involved in this matter on the job well done especially on the professional manner in which this case was handled, resulting in this long jail term”, Ngoepe said.

He said the long term sentence should serve as a warning to others that crime never pays.
