MALAMULELE – Police in Malamulele have arrested 2 suspects linked to the recent robbery that occured at Markham Store based in Masingita Crossing on Monday the 14 of August 2017.
According to the information provided by the store staff, 6 armed men robbed the store on gunpoint and flee with Cellphones and clothes using the R81 road that link Giyani and Malamulele.
The incident was then reported to Malamulele Police, where they went all out and called Giyani Police for back up.
Malamulele Police’s Spokesperson Warrant Officer Alson Mapindane said, with the effort from both Malamulele and Giyani police they have managed to arrest 2 suspects aged 44 and 31 and are said to be from Mamabolo outside Polokwane and Bulawayo in Zimbabwe respectively.
“The suspects were arrested on the R81 road, few kilometres before Giyani township, where stolen clothes and cellphones together with 2 getaway cars (Silver VW Jetta and a Red Toyota Corolla) were taken to the station to assist with investigations.” Said W/O Mapindane
The arrest happened after 1 driver lost control of the car and rolled. The 2 arrested suspects made a brief appearance in the Malamulele Magistrate court on Wednesday 17 August 2017 and they are expected to return next week.
“Investigations in this case are still running and we urge anyone with information regarding this criminal activity to contact the nearest police station.” Concluded W/O Mapindane.
Similar crimes took place in Markham Giyani, last year where cash, clothes and cellphones were taken.
