The 31 year old Rinae Sengani recently started Rinae Sengani Foundation to fight against killings and violence. Sengani was born at Gogogo, outside Thohoyandou.
She told Giyani View that the foundation was established in May this year and it is currently operating in Thohoyandou and Ekurhuleni. “Due to many killings, domestic violence and kidnappings in Vhembe District, I then decided to start a Foundation to fight such challenges”.
There are some private companies that have assisted them with fundings for the campaigns in the past . “Funding is our biggest challenge. We need assistance from the government and partnerships,” she added.
Services offered by the foundation include helping women and children who have been or are being abused, funeral arrangements for bereaved families, counselling from professional social workers and supporting families of the victims in court.
“We also host women workshops where we teach them how to maintain healthy relationships and how to walk away from abusive relationships,” she said.
They also work with organisations such as Munna Ndi Nnyi and Vhembe pastor’s forum in helping the people.
It has been supporting several cases, including the family of Portia Rasilabe, a mother of one who was allegedly killed by her estranged partner.
The foundation is available on social media. People can follow it on facebook, Instagram and twitter Rinae Sengani Foundation. It can also be reached on http://www.rinaefoundation.org.za, firstname.lastname@example.org and 079 831 5485.
