GIYANI – The Department of Health in Limpopo said it had received a memorandum of complaints from trade Union HOSPERSA which represents students at the Giyani Nursing College.
The union was complaining about inequality with regard to how students were treated on campus.
HOSPERSA Limpopo said a junior student had done her practicals before senior students did theirs, as they were still on the waiting list
The Spokesperson for the MEC of Health in Limpopo Thabiso Tefo said the department would respond to the matter soon.
“We’ve received the memorandum and we are going through it and we will give a response soon”, said Teffo.
A few weeks ago Giyani Nursing College students embarked on protest action in which they were complained about the lack of services, which they said was putting their health in great danger.
During the protest, the students locked the College’s gate and burnt tyres to demonstrate their discontent.
Some of their grievences included intermittent power failures and poor sanitation on campus.
