The police have continued to protect Hosi N’wamitwa after members of the community went on rampage last week and started barricading some of the streets in N’wamitwa and smashing windows of the two vehicles which were at Hosi N’wamitwa’s palace.
It was alleged that the protesters went to the palace and demanded to see the chief. Later the police were called to disperse the protesters and rubber bullets were fired by the police.
Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said following the arrest of four(04) suspects earlier on, a Tactical Intelligence Led Joint Operation was conducted in the early hours of Friday morning, 6 October, which led to the arrest of nine (09) more suspects aged between 21 and 49.
“These suspect’s will appear before the Nkowankowa Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of public violence and malicious damage to property.
The four suspects who were arrested earlier, appeared before the Nkowankowa Magistrate’s Court this week and their case was remanded to next Tuesday for further Police investigations, and they were all given bail of R500.00 each”.
The suspects were: Patience Ngomane (37), Shadrack Khosa (39), Gerald Mthethwa (24) and Musa Malungane (42).
“The situation is still being monitored. The Police investigations are continuing”, Ngoepe concluded.
