The court case of a Nkowa Nkowa Doctor Dumisani David Chauke (52), commonly known as D.D accused of raping a 17 year old patient has been remanded at Ritavi magistrate court on Thursday, 12 October.
The National Prosecution Authority( NPA) has requested for a postponement to conduct a proper profiling of the doctor’s previous criminal cases before the magistrate can grant him a bail.
The bail hearing will be on the 27th of October. During his court appearance on Thursday Chauke was wearing a blue jean and a Navy blue winter jacket.
Family members of the accused in court were his wife, siblings, friends and employees.
Meanwhile, the victim’s mom was accompanied by few relatives, the victim was not in court. The mother pleaded for privacy as she’s exhausted and only confirmed to talk to the media next week Tuesday.
Limpopo provincial police spokesperson LT. Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said it is alleged that on the 9th of September a 17 year old girl went to the suspect’s surgery in Nkoankoa Township for consultation.
On arrival, she was called in the consultation room and the suspect started examining her and during that process, he raped her.
“The matter was later reported to the Police who reacted swiftly and started with their preliminary investigations until the suspect was arrested. Police Investigations are still continuing”, Ngoepe concluded
