GIYANI – Mopani district municipality in partnership with the Greater Giyani Municipality joint forces in organising a special sendoff to the the PSL log leaders’ Goal stopper, Oscarine Masuluke, on the night of Thursday (19-10-2017).

The aim for the foresaid event was to pass their word of encouragement to the young player as he will be jetting off to London for the Puskas award ceremony.

Baroka FC’s goalkeeper’s goal made it to top 3 of the world’s best goals after a tremendous bicycle kick that ended at the back of the net during a 1 all draw between Baroka FC and Orlando Pirates last year.

With the support he received from the African continent, his brilliant goal made it to top 3.

The sendoff gala dinner was held at Emoyeni Royal Resort and amongst the distinguished guests was representatives from different institutions that includes SAFA, Baroka FC, Nhlaniki Traditional Council, Ngove royal council, Limpopo Sportswise, Masuluke family, Xilumani Coaches, SAFPU, members of the media and many others.

During the event, Greater Giyani municipality mayor, Cllr Sasavona Salvah Mathebula said she is very proud of what Oscarine did and that history was made and as a local municipality they feel it’s advisable to show support, also saying she remember when Oscarine played for his ward during the Annual mayors cup.

“As a local municipality, we deemed it necessary to give tokens to Oscarine before he leave for London, and with me here it’s a R50 000 cheque to use it along your journey.” Said the Mayor Cllr Mathebula.

The Mopani District mayor, Cllr Nkakareng Rakgoale said she is very pleased with what the young man did and also think it’s wise to donate a further R50 000 on top of the one donated by local municipality.

“We are very much happy that Masuluke will be representing us in the Puskas, and I personally encourage everyone of you to show your support by casting your votes to his goal, so that he can bring home the award.” Said Cllr Rakgoale.

A family representative, Johannes Masuluke expressed happiness and end up sharing the journey of Oscarine’s growth, where he acknowledged the old lady who raised Oscarine, Maria Sithole.

“The old lady beside me, is the main reason Oscarine is known worldwide as she took a full responsibility of raising him from his biological mother’s death while he was 5 years old, and therefore she is considered a pillar behind Oscarine’s talent.” Said Masuluke.

Baroka FC’s chairman, Khurishi Mphahlele said that he support Oscarine and pleaded with both Mopani and Giyani municipalities political heads to be given access to use Giyani stadium for some of their home games.

Chief Ngove the 5th, of the Mabunda Traditional council, promised to use his powers to make sure that the name “Oscarine Masuluke” lives longer in people’s hearts as he will name one of his monuments after Oscarine.

Baroka head coach, Kgoloko Thobejane, expressed his happiness over his player’s performance.

While his former coach from Amateur clubs, Lucky Siweya, encouraged Oscarine to further pursue his football career to make his former club boss Nwa Xichalani to be happy ever after.

The man of the moment, Oscarine Masuluke took the centre stage shedding tears of joy, and showed appreciation to all stakeholders who made the event a success and thanking his personal sponsor, Xilumani Coaches together with his coach, Thobejane for having faith in him at all times.

“I would like to encourage fellow football players to be humble on and off the field. I am going to claim what’s mine in London, the Puskas award belongs to Oscarine.” He said.

Xilumani Coaches even organised a welcome back event for Oscarine where artists like Benny Mayengane, Dr Thomas Chauke, Sunglen Chabalala, Percy Mfana, Dj Brian, Matt and many more will be perfoming including Muvhango crew as MC’s.
