GIYANI – The assault case against GCR FM’s Marketing manager Rodney Mabunda has been postponed by the Giyani Magistrates court on the 28th of November 2017, to 12th of December 2017.
Mabunda allegedly assaulted a suspended presenter Nkhensani “Ndlovukazi Ya ka Homu” Chabalala on the 29th of September 2017. He was arrested on the following day and released on a R500 bail pending further investigations.
Mabunda made his first appearance on Tuesday the 28th of November where his case was postponed.
Chabalala said she felt her rights were infringed as a woman. She said that the country’s justice system had been undermined, following a physical attack perpetrated against her by one of her managers.
“A marketing manager in a community radio station where 16 days of activism against woman and children is preached day and night, but allows women to be victimized in their workplace,” Chabalala fumed.
She further expressed her disappointment over station manager Prenorman Chavani’s failure to take disciplinary action against the culprit.
Chabalala further emphasized: “Rodney Mabunda has no work ethics and fails to work in harmony with others as I am not the first person he has gotten physical with at GCR. I think the justice system must take action against him so I become the last person he assaulted.”
She said her employer had the responsibility to ensure her rights were protected as a woman. “No man has the right to physically mishandle woman. It’s time men understood that women are just as equal as them in the work and must be respected and treated with dignity.”
It is alleged that it was difficult for the victim to open a case against Mabunda.
