BOLOBEDU- In a concerted effort to fight Trio Crimes in the province, the police succeeded in recovering a vehicle that was just hijacked at Matshwi village in Bolobedu on Monday.

According to police reports, the victim, his girlfriend and his younger brother were traveling in a Red Audi, when they arrived at their homestead, they were confronted by three armed suspects who demanded the car keys.



Provincial police spokesperson LT. Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said “the suspects drove the vehicle with the three victims inside and along the Tzaneen – Kgapane road, they stopped and ordered them to disembark from the vehicle.

“The suspects then drove in the direction of Lenyenye outside Tzneen where the police, doing their regular stop and searches in Maake policing area, stopped the vehicle at Mohlahlareng village. The suspects immediately jumped out and fled into the bushes, abandoning the vehicle.

“The vehicle was searched and a 9mm revolver and various assortment of items including the hijacked vehicle were recovered.

“The Provincial Commissioner Lt. General Nneke Ledwaba has hailed these members for their swift recovery of the vehicle and urged them to locate the suspects. He further urged and encouraged other members to emulate this kind of continuous operations such as stop and searches as these will always yield positive results.
“Police investigations are continuing and anyone with information about the suspects is requested to contact the nearest Police Station or Colonel Cecil Machimane at 082 451 7181 or the toll free number 086001011 or the crime line SMS 32211.” Concluded Ngoepe.
