TZANEEN- Following an intensive search operation since on Wednesday by the police in Modjadjiskloof outside Tzaneen for a missing baby, the situation took an unexpected turn on Thursday when the baby was safely returned.

According to police the five months old infant was brought to Mokwakwaila Police station outside Tzaneen on Thursday by the mother of the alleged 24-year-old baby’s snatcher.

Police spokesperson, constable Maphure Manamela said “The 52- year-old woman was allegedly at home in Mohlommeng Village in the Bolubedu when her daughter came carrying an unknown baby and when she questioned her she admitted that she has stole the baby from a house in Madumeleng village.

“While the police investigations continued, a manhunt has been launched for the suspect and anyone with information which can assist with the arrest is requested to contact the police emergency on number on 08600 10111 or contact the nearest police station.” Concluded constable Manamela.
