PHALABORWA- The annual Limpopo Marula festival had took a dramatic turn after the usual venue for the event, Impala Park Rugby Stadium was in 2018 changed to Ingwe Park.

The 2018 edition of the anticipated festival will kick start on the 24th of February and the 2nd round will take place on the 3rd of March.
Limpopo Marula festival media launch was held at Thaba Moshate in Burgersfort outside Polokwane last night.

The Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism MEC Seaparo Sekoati had outlined what this year’s festival will entail.
Sekoati said “the plan to develop a Limpopo Marula hub has been finalised and that this will become the new home of the festival.”

Meanwhile, some of the residents in Ba- Phalaborwa have strongly disagreed with the event organisers after the usual venue was changed.

“Ingwe Park is unsafe, unhealthy and has no capacity to host the multitude that attend the event.

“It’s not right at all and thousands of people will die there. Let’s save lives and let it be hosted at the usual venue.” Concluded Ba- Phalaborwa residents.

Marula festival organizers weren’t reached for a comment at the time going to the press.
