PHALABORWA- Some of the parents are still battling to deal with Schiettocht School new policy that saw Xitsonga been stripped- off as first home additional language.
The school policy has brought back an oppressor language as defined by some of the parents whom on Friday challenged the school principal, Mongwe.
In the voice clip sent to Giyani View on Saturday, Mongwe has been recorded alluding that Schiettocht will no longer taught Xitsonga as a first home additional language and it will be replaced by Afrikaans as a first home additional language and English as home language.
“We can’t have two home additional languages taught in this school hence we want Afrikaans to replace Xitsonga as first home additional language. We are the feeder for Frans Du Toit,” Mongwe explained in the voice clip.
Mongwe was heard in the clip telling Sam Maluleke to move his child out of the school if he finds it difficult to accept Schiettocht’s new policy.
“Yes, your children will still be taught Xitsonga but they won’t be writing an exam.” Concluded Mongwe.
The affected grades are grade R to 4. Meanwhile, Maluleke pleaded with Ba- Phalaborwa Municipality to quickly intervene into this matter.
” I find this news very disturbing and only few parents have noticed this so far.” Fumed Maluleke.
Ba- Phalaborwa Municipality and the department of Education weren’t reached for a comment immediately.
