DURBAN – Members of the South African Police Service in Limpopo made an indelible mark during the National Service Excellence Awards Ceremony that was held at the International Convention Centre in Durban on Friday.
The Station Commander of Bolobedu Police Station, Colonel Kgashane David Mahlaola put the police in Limpopo Province in the history books by becoming the disabled employee of the year.
The member received the highest price when he won a brand new motor vehicle, cash amount of money, Trophy Certificate R1500.00 grocery voucher.
The member also received a one week cruising voucher. Despite being disabled, (he became disabled after he was shot while on duty) Colonel Mahlaola managed to beat all his counterparts in the categories of visible policing.
Other members who elevated the Limpopo Province above the rest are the following:
A member from C0828642ligence: (his identity withheld): He became the number one in the whole country in the environment of Crime Intelligence. He received a Trophy, Certificate, cash amount of moneys and R1500.00 grocery voucher.
Colonel Shumani Bethuel Raphulu: The member is attached to Thohoyandou Cluster Detectives and became number one in the whole country, beating all his counterparts in the Detectives environment. He received a Trophy, Certificate, Cash amount of money and R1500.00 grocery voucher.
A member from Crime Intelligence: (Identity withheld), the member became number one in the whole country by beating all his counterparts in the country in leading a highly successful Crime Intelligence Trio Crimes Task Team. He received a Trophy, Certificate and Cash amount of money.
Sergeant Mosima Asnath Makgaba: The member is attached to Provincial Corporate Communication and became a runner up woman employee of the year. She received a Certificate, Two cell phones, an IPad and cash amount of money.
Constable Glender Mathebula: The member became a runner up employee of the year in Detective Service environment. She received a Certificate, two cell phones, an iPad and a cash amount of money.
This glittering event was graced by the presence of the Police Minister Fikile Mbalula and his Deputy Bongani Mkonki. Also in attendance were the National Commissioner General Khehla Sitole, the Deputy National Commissioners, the Divisional Commissioners, all Provincial Commissioners, Deputy Provincial Commissioners, other Senior Police management from National and Provinces and police nominees from across the length and breadth of the Republic of South Africa.
Members of the police Service were nominated for excellent performances in various policing environments in all nine Provinces and the provincial winners then became the National nominees. The event preceded the National Police Day which was held in Durban on last Thursday.
The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, who personally witnessed the unfolding drama that was characterized by ululation and hand clappings, was at a loss for words when expressing his delight.
“I have never seen something like this before”, exclaimed General Ledwaba. ” This accolade are bound to serve as an inspiration to other members that hard work has indeed paid. I regard this as a challenge as these members have raised the bar and are therefore expected to perform even better going forward.” Concluded General Ledwaba.
