GIYANI- Witchcraft suspect of four hanged dolls with name tags which were found at 14C in Giyani on Monday has been rescued by police on Thursday after he (the suspect) was attacked by angry community members.

According to preliminary reports the dolls were used to perform ‘witchcraft’ and some of the residents believe that the dolls were used to kill people in the village, and at least two people out of the four which their names were found attached to the dolls were killed.

It’s alleged that the suspect has been caught with other dolls similar to those which were found in the nearby bushes.

“He is new in this community, but what he is practicing is disgusting since we are losing young people in the name of witchcraft. If it wasn’t for the police who came to rescue him, we would have killed him with our hands.”  Alleged our source.

Giyani police spokesperson, Captain Magezi Khosa wasn’t immediately reached for a comment.
