Tsundzukani remanded in custody for raping a 12-months-old-baby

GIYANI- The members of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit in Giyani has cracked a case in which a one-year-old baby was raped at Nkomo A village last week.

Following an intensive and thorough investigation, the dedicated members arrested a 23-year-old suspect, Tsundzukani Midas Baloyi on Tuesday.

Baloyi, who also resides in the same village, appeared before the Giyani Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on a charge of rape.



The Cluster Commander of Giyani Major General Mbhazima Ngobeni has thanked the community members who worked closely with the police to ensure that justice is served.

“We salute the community members who assisted in the apprehension of the suspect. Partnership policing will ensure that all criminal elements are rooted out of our society.

Criminals live amongst us and if we isolate them, they will have no place to hide and we will put them behind bars”, said Major General Ngobeni.

Giyani cluster spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda said Baloyi is expected to re-appear before the Giyani Magistrate on the 6th of March 2018 for a formal bail application.
