PHALABORWA- The long awaited heavy and continuous rains in the large parts of the province resulted in the swelling of some rivers and dams.
Police in Lulekani outside Phalaborwa have opened an Inquest docket after a 10-year-old boy drowned in a nearby dam in Lulekani last week.
Lulekani police spokesperson, Constable, Ntsako Reoh Mabunda said on their arrival they found the grandmother of the deceased who pointed out a deep stream where the deceased was alleged to have drowned.
“Search and rescue Unit were called and a search was conducted where the deceased, Junior Kamogelo Shikwambana was found dead.
“His body was taken to Maphutha Hospital government mortuary for an autopsy to be conducted to determine the cause of his death while the investigation is still under way.
“The police are urging community members to gather their children to stay away from streams during this rain season.” Concluded Mabunda.
