Police hunt down escaped prisoners

GIYANI- The Sekgosese police unit, outside Giyani have launched a massive manhunt for the four awaiting trial prisoners. The prisoners between the age group of 20-35 escaped from police holding cells on Tuesday (13-03-2018) night.

Limpopo police spokesperson, LT. Colonel Moatshe’ Ngoepe says the prisoners are from different villages and were arrested on different crimes such as murder, burglary, armed robbery and rape.



“Lucky Nchaupa (20), Sunnyboy Maleka (32), Sekgopotso Cafus Nakana (30) and Thabang Mashashane (25) were arrested for the above-mentioned crimes respectively.” Said Ngoepe

A similar incident also occurred in Lulekani, just outside Phalaborwa where prisoners escaped. They escaped from a police vehicle near Ga-Selwane village while being transported from prison to appear before the court in Phalaborwa.

“Lulekani police are on the search for two escaped prisoners being Chris Matlou (27) whom was arrested for both rape and murder while Jonathan Ngoako (28) was arrested for rape.

“The police are still investigating both incidents and urge anyone with information to assist in the re-arrest of the escaped suspects to contact Captain Richard Boshomane on 079 894 5501 or may contact the nearest police station,” concluded Ngoepe.
