PHALABORWA- The Police in Hoedspruit near Phalaborwa have launched a massive manhunt for a group of armed suspects who robbed a cash-in-transit-vehicle on Saturday afternoon.

It is alleged that on Saturday afternoon, the cash-in transit vehicle was travelling along R40 road from Accornhoek towards Hoedspruit when two vehicles, VW Amarok and Toyota Corolla with several occupants inside started shooting it until the driver lost control and overturned.

Limpopo Police Spokesperson LT. Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe says that the suspects blew up the security vehicle with explosives and took an undisclosed amount of money before they fled the scene.

“During the incident, both Security Officials sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital for medical treatment,” said Ngoepe.

Police investigations continue and anyone with information which can assist in arresting the suspects, is urged to contact Captain Richard Boshomane at 079 894 5501 or the nearest Police Station.

“The suspects involved are unknown and no arrests have been made,” concluded Ngoepe.
