Rapist sentenced to life imprisonment

LIMPOPO- A 34-year-old man was sentenced to an effective life imprisonment by the Thohoyandou Regional Court. The accused is charged for raping his niece during an incident which occurred on the 29th of July last year.

Limpopo Police Spokesperson LT. Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe says that the victim (11) was busy preparing herself to go to school.

“While she was about to wear her school shoes as she was already in her uniform, her ruthless uncle emerged and raped her” said Ngoepe.

The brave child allegedly escaped wearing only one shoe with her uniform to school. She then explained everything to the teachers who immediately reported the ordeal to the Police and the accused was then arrested also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Ngoepe concluded by saying that the SAPS Provincial Commissioner LT. General Nneke Ledwaba has applauded the Thohoyandou Cluster Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit for the job well done and he further encouraged them to keep up the good work as it will never pass unnoticed.
