PHALABORWA- Police have confirmed that they have launched a manhunt after a body of a newborn baby has been discovered on Tuesday afternoon.
Giyani View has learned that a dedicated team of investigators are already on the matter and will work tirelessly to ensure that the suspect responsible for the crime is arrested and face the might of the law.
The abandoned body has been discovered at the municipal dumping site in Phalaborwa.
Phalaborwa police spokesperson, Sergeant Elvis Mongwe says they’re investigating a case of concealment of birth following the recovery of the body.
“The police preliminary investigation revealed that the foetus was found at about 13H30 by garbage collectors who were busy collecting cans and bottles from the refuse which is believed to be dumped by the truck which was carrying refuse from Namakgale area.
“The foetus was found wrapped with a blanket and the gender thereof is not yet known at this stage.
“The police are urging members of the society to assist in locating the perpetrator in this matter.
