Giyani Revolution Task Team (GRTT) leader, Thembani ‘De Rebel’ Chabane fears for his life after claims that a team of hit men have been paid to kill him.
Giyani View has been highly informed that Chabane’s life is in danger for continuously challenging wrong doings by a number of Non profit organizations and civil organizations in and around Giyani. He said there were some people who had been paid to follow his whereabouts with a sinister motive but has indicated he would remain alert. “My food was poisoned at Oasis lodge.”
Chabane became infamous in 2015 just after former public administration minister; Collins Chabane was killed along with his two bodyguards on the N1 just outside Polokwane when their car collided with a truck which made an illegal U-turn.
He was arrested for claiming that former minister, Chabane had been assassinated by the ANC and later the case was struck off the roll. He was rearrested in 2017 and charged with damage to property after he went to Giyani Community Radio (GCR) FM with his group and damaged the property. The case was opened by GCR FM on 20 October 2017.
In 2018 January, Chabane, through his legal team argued that the case against him should be withdrawn, which was later struck off the roll on 22 February 2018.
At the time, highly placed sources had informed us that Chabane’s legal team had argued that their client’s case be withdrawn. They had argued that since Prophet John Maluleke’s son, Matimba Maluleke’s (and his friend) case of damaging GCR FM’s property was withdrawn after the Prophet had agreed to pay R20 000 00 for damages, and so shall it be with their client’s case.
However, on the 18th of May this year, the charges were reinstated after GCR marketing manager, Rodney Mabunda and Guyu Maluleke launched a complaint.
