Arrested Mphambo police officer granted ‘free bail’

Malamulele- According to our source Willy Maluleke, Warrant Officer attached to the Giyani Public Order Police (POP) who shot and killed his homeboy Dennis Hlungwani (37) of Mphambo village outside Malamulele township has been granted free bail by the Malamulele Magistrate Court on Monday.

Maluleke handed himself over to the Malamulele police station after he had escaped the angry mob following the fatal shooting.

Police say public violence and mayhem, erupted in the evening of last Saturday just after Hlungwani was shot and killed several times throughout the  body.

“Police vehicles has been damaged and with five suspects arrested for assault GBH and six counts of malicious damage to property.

“These suspects have briefly appeared before the Malamulele Magistrate Court, and they were each released on bail of R500.00 each and, their cases were postponed until the 12th of September 2018 for further Police investigations.

“The suspects were identified as follows- Tinyiko Given Maluleke (36), Hluvukani Maluleke (30), Tinyiko Walter Maluleke (34), Rhulani Vincent Maluleke aged (38) and Godfrey Chauke aged (25).

“The motive behind this incident is not clear at this stage, but the ongoing investigations by the Police and IPID will tell.

“The Police in Malamulele have since opened cases of murder and malicious damage to properties, and Police investigations still continue”. Concluded L.T. Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.
