Giyani- Since the establishment of Shikhumba annual marathon in 2015, at least five thousand pupils in Shikhumba, Shawela, Nsavulani have benefited greatly from the Shikhumba marathon.

Founder and organizer of the marathon, Amos Sambo says at least 5 000 sanitary towels were donated to female individuals and to some of the schools in Shikhumba, Shawela and Nsavulani.

“I would like to thank our sponsors, Dr Mbombi, Shikhumba Filling Station, Genesis Emergency Management Services, Nkwangulatilo Education Centre, Destiny Training Centre at Tzaneen, Gijas Home Improvement Centre and Mashamba County House.

“Leleni Primary School in Shawela outside Giyani town is one of the schools that have benefited greatly from the ongoing initiative.

“This year, we have been approached by Ukuthula Primary School, which is situated in Mageva Village ka- Dzumeri outside Giyani town. The school consists of at least 225 female pupils who are unable to purchase sanitary towels.

“Most of the pupils in the school are orphans and we feel a need to play a role. We can’t sit and relax watching these pupils failing to attend school when they’re seeing their days”,  concludes Sambo.
