Giyani- Greater Giyani Municipality (GGM) strongly condemned the social media trends that more than one person has died in Giyani stadium during the #FillUpGiyaniStadium festival.

“It’s sad that people claim that many people died during the festival, and its a smear campaign against the success of Giyani at large.

Police discovered a body of a 19- year- old boy at the venue. And outside the venue there was another person who was found unconscious.

“It’s unfortunate that the person died a few hours later in Nkhensani Hospital. It’s disgusting that people fabricate information which is baseless and unfounded. It’s only one body which was found not 12 or 3” says GGM spokesperson, Steven Mavunda.

Meanwhile, #FillUpGiyaniStadium event organisers, Xilumani coaches on Sunday visited the family of the deceased at Mavalani village just outside Giyani town.

Tinyiko Maluleke, Xilumani coaches brand ambassador told The only Informer In Town that Xilumani coaches will pay all the funeral costs, to show how sincerely they are and also feel the pain too.

Meanwhile, GGM officials are also  expected to visit the family of the deceased.

Limpopo police say the incident occurred at about 03:00am, when the deceased was stabbed wıth a knife on the body by an unknown suspect and he dıed on the scene at Gıyanı Stadıum durıng Xılumanı festival.

“The deceased is a 19 year old from Mavalana village. Suspects are still unknown and there is no arrest”, says Moatshe Ngoepe.
