Kheodi High School teacher remanded in custody for rape

Tzaneen- The arrested Kheodi High School teacher, in Belview village outside Tzaneen, Lesetja Rabopape (33) has appeared before the Bolobedu Magistrate Court on Tuesday on a charge of rape.

He was denied bail and his case was postponed to the 13th September 2018 for further bail application and for further Police investigations.

Police say, his arrest follows an incident which occurred in a village in the Mokwakwaila Policing precinct outside Tzaneen where a 17-year-old girl who is a learner at another high school was raped.

It is alleged that on Sunday night the victim was from a nearby village when she met the suspect who is an educator at one of the High Schools who offered her a lift home.

“The suspect continued driving, passing the victim’s place of residence until at the local sports ground. The suspect started assaulting the victim and subsequently raped her.

“The matter was reported to the Police who immediately started with initial investigations until the suspect was apprehended.

“The Police investigations are still continuing”, add Moatshe Ngoepe.
