Phalaborwa- Two bodies of Sikus Kutlwano Sleeper (4), and Blessing Mnisi (5) were discovered after they drowned inside a cattle dip-tank at Matiko-Xikaya in Lulekani just outside Phalaborwa on Friday afternoon.

It is alleged that the children left their homes during the day as they were going to play with other children.

Lulekani Police Spokesperson Constable, Ntsako Mabunda said the mother of one of the deceased got concerned after the 2 boys did not pitch up home, and she then informed her neighbours about the matter, and a serious search was conducted. They then stopped with a search during the night, and continued in the morning with the search.

“They searched everywhere until they found one body floating inside the cattle dip-tank.

“Police were notified and their swift reaction led to the recovery of the second body after a serious search.

“This happened after the first attempt could not bear fruit as the dip-tank had water contaminated with chemicals, and the assistance from Disaster Management was acquired and they had to drain water from the dip-tank. The body of the remaining boy was then recovered.

“The emergency medical services were also summoned, where they declared the two children dead at the scene. The two deceased bodies were taken to Maphutha Malatjie hospital government mortuary where a postmortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
