Phalaborwa- Members of Social Crime Prevention Sergeant Mongwe Elvis and Constable Nkuna Gezani visited Frans Du Toit High School in Phalaborwa town on Monday, for awareness campaign on School Safety.
The team was led by Acting Vispol Commander, Captain Mathebula.
Sergeant Mongwe addressed the pupils on topics related to safety at School.
During the address, Sergeant Mongwe strongly condemned gangsterism which is prevailing at many schools around the country, carrying of dangerous weapons and fighting at school were also strongly criticized and learners were warned to stop such acts, he further discouraged any form of bullying which were noted at school in recent weeks.
Theft of items like calculators, cell phones and other valuable items which are of importance in their studies were also discouraged. The usage and distribution of drugs/intoxicating substances as well as Alcohol abuse were discouraged in a strongest possible terms.
Sergeant Mongwe, further highlighted the consequences of having criminal records. In conclusion, he appealed to the learners to behave in an acceptable manner and always maintain discipline in everything they do. He concluded by appealing to the matric pupils to prepare for their exams and wished them well with a 100% pass rate.
He warned pupils that police will work tirelessly to fight crime at schools, and in the society, and, further appealed to them to report any criminal act which they observe.
