Terry, the woman basher to remain behind bars…

Giyani- Terry Maluleke (39) who is accused of assaulting a well-known socialite, Tsemisa Chabalala of Xikukwani village in the outskirts of Giyani was on Wednesday remanded in custody, after he made a court appearance.

Maluleke briefly appeared in a fully-packed Giyani Magistrate Court C on charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (assault GBH).

The state opposed bail and he was remanded in custody until his next appearance on the 3rd of October for profiling, further investigation and possible bail application.

Meanwhile, a police official close to the case said Maluleke also filed a charge of common assault against the victim.

However, he said he cannot confirm when is Chabalala going to appear in court.

ANC Limpopo woman’s league treasurer, and Mopani District Municipality, Chief Whip Martha Maswanganyi led woman who marched and chanted outside the court.

Speaking on behalf of the marching woman, Maswanganyi said the ANC has taken resolutions that “we are tired of being abused”.

“It’s not the first time he (Terry) does this, he once attacked Miyelani Misapa in the past,” she said.

“We are sick and tired of his behavior. Any person who may do what Terry did, we will take him to court, the court will take its cause”

Muso and activist, Sunglen Chabalala of Matimba ya Vamanana organisation urged the state to be harsh on the accused.

She said that as the community and the organization they do not have power over the accused, but believe the law will take its caurse.

Chabalala was attacked on Sunday 23rd September, a day prior to Heritage day.

In a video making rounds on social media, she is seen being kicked down to the ground, whereas in another video footage, Maluleke is seen hitting Chabalala using a beer bottle.
