Doctors’s infant left alone after the early morning ambush

Tzaneen- The Police in Limpopo have launched a massive manhunt for a group of about five armed suspects who broke into the doctor’s residence at Letaba Hospital in Tzaneen and robbed the occupants of their valuable goods, including cash amount of money.

Limpopo police say, the incident occurred in the early hours of today.” According to the information received, a couple (both doctors) was asleep when the suspects broke into their house and attacked them. The male doctor was in the process shot at, and the perpetrators managed to get away with a television set and cellphones.

“The suspects proceeded to another house where they attacked another couple, shooting a male doctor in the process and assaulting his wife with a sharp object. The couple was also robbed of a television set, cellphones, tablet, laptops, and an undisclosed amount of money.

“The injured victims were taken to hospital where they are still recuperating.

“Cases of attempted murder and house robbery have been opened for investigation”, added Moatshe Ngoepe.

The provincial commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, lieutenant general Nneke Ledwaba has established a task team led by a major general, to pursue these culprits until they are caught.

“Members of this task team have been instructed to hunt down these suspects and bring them to book as speedily as possible,” said General Ledwaba.

“I call on our communities to work with the police to ensure a speedy detection of this heinous crime.” concluded General Ledwaba.

During the visit this morning, MEC DR Phophi Ramathuba had a moment with the two month old baby. She’s an infant child of the (Doctors) couple who were shot during a robbery incident. The child was inside the house when the shooting happened but was unharmed.

Limpopo health spokesperson, Neil Shikwambana says a female doctor shot during the incidence is in a critical condition.” She has been rushed to theatre where an orthopaedic surgeon and a general surgeon are due to operate on her”.
