Tzaneen- Health minister Aron Motsoaledi during his visit to Letaba Hospital in the outskirts of Tzaneen, said the criminals who are continuing to attack health practitioners across Limpopo health facilities have declared war against the government.

Motsoaledi who was accompanied by police minister Bheki Cele, two MECs and Mopani District municipality executive mayor Nkakareng Rakgoale following the Thursday early morning ambush which saw three Doctors wounded after being attacked by five armed men who broke into the Doctors’ residence in Letaba Hospital.

Police say they have launched a massive manhunt for a group of about five armed suspects. The suspects have robbed occupants of their belongings that also included amount of money and other valuables.

“According to the information received, couple (both doctors) was asleep when the suspects broke into their house and attacked them. The male doctor was shot at, and the perpetrators managed to get away with a television set and cellphones.

“The suspects proceeded to another house where they attacked another couple, shooting a male doctor in the process and assaulting his wife with a sharp object. The couple was also robbed of a television set, cellphones, tablet, laptops, and an undisclosed amount of money.

“The injured victims were taken to hospital where they are still recuperating.

“Cases of attempted murder and house robbery have been opened for investigation”, says Limpopo police spokesperson, Moatshe Ngoepe.
