Polokwane- Lesiba Merchanson Molokomme (31) and an 18-year- old boy who were arrested for charges of kidnapping, rape, common robbery and theft of motor vehicle, on Monday, yesterday appeared before the Phalala Magistrate court outside Lephalale.
They were all denied bail and their cases were postponed until the 16th January 2019 for further Police investigations.
The Intelligent led joint operation followed these suspects around the clock until they tracked them down at two separate areas outside Lephalale.
Police say, during the arrest, one of the suspect was found in possession of the ignition keys of the victim’s car and later, the victim’s car was found abandoned in bushes near Marken.
“The arrest emanated from the incident that occurred on Friday the 23rd of November 2018, when the suspects broke into a rented place of the victim, aged 28 who is a female educator in a high school near Marken, while she was sleeping.
They tied her, loaded her in the boot of her car and drove away with her.
“The Police were notified, the investigations and manhunt ensued immediately until the victim was later found dumped in the bushes along the road to Bakenburg outside Mokopane and she was immediately taken to hospital for medical treatment.
“It was also detected that the suspects made turns in gang raping the victim and dumped her still tied in the bushes before they fled the scene with her motor vehicle VW Polo. The police investigations are still continuing.” added Moatshe Ngoepe.
