Giyani- Ba-Phalaborwa municipality has received qualified audit opinion from auditor general of South Africa for the 2017-2018 financial year. The municipality has been receiving disclaimers for the past 10 years.
Ba- Phalaborwa municipality media liaison, Michael Mathebula says the municipal manager Maite Moakamela and chief financial officer Tshepo Mogano, assisted by senior management team, internal audit and audit committee played an instrumental role, on a daily basis to ensure the municipality receives such qualified audit opinion.
The municipal manager Moakamela says without the leadership from the mayor, cllr Pule Shayi, political management team and his executive committee members (EXCO) and the entire municipal employees, it would have been impossible to achieve this collective milestone.

The mayor, cllr Pule Shayi has expressed his heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the municipal manager, Moakamela for her leadership in spearheading the implementation of the auditor general action plan, assisted by finance department led by CFO Tshepo Mogano for a job well done. “We believe that this achievement will restore public confidence to the municipality.”
