Two suspects arrested at Mahatlane village following business robbery in Shierly village

Makhado- Two suspects have been arrested for their role after they committed a business robbery at Shierly village in the outskirts of Makhado.

According to the police the two suspects in the ages around twenties have robbed the local spaza shop, and they took customer’s money, airtimes, cartoons of cigarettes and cellphones at Shierly village before they fled with a motor vehicle towards Hlanganani precinct.

The two off duty police officers became aware of the incident after the police were notified and they also joined in chasing the suspects with their private motor vehicles.

The two suspects were later spotted at Mahatlane village outside Giyani and they opened fire at the police who retaliated until the suspects were arrested. No police officer was injured during the shooting.

The motor vehicle used by the suspects was confiscated during the arrests, all the items were recovered, the firearm and the knife which are believed to have been used during the robbery were also recovered.

The arrested suspects will soon appear before the Hlanganani magistrate court.

Limpopo provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba congratulated the Hlanganani SAPS team members of their outstanding performance in making the arrests.

“This is clear warning to all the criminals out there that Limpopo cannot be turned into their playground. Those who are still continuing with their heinous act, they will meet the full might of the law”, concluded General Ledwaba.
