Gazankulu Liberation Congress guns for the 2019 national elections

GIYANI- According to reports, the newly political party Gazankulu Liberation Congress (GLC) has reached over 6 500 Milestone memberships in two weeks. GLC was founded by Former ANC Youth League and Young Communist League Leader Gift Maswanganyi in 2015.

This emerged after GLC President Wilson Seseni was interviewed by Mughana Lonene FM current affairs, Tiko Axietleli recently.

After the interview with the SABC radio, GLC has claimed that after it had been inundated with endless calls and messages, requesting for new membership forms.


GLC’s co-founder, Seseni was born at Mashavele Village under the Hlaneki traditional Authority. He Matriculated Malenga High School in 1988 the school, he was Chairperson of SRC 1988. In 1990 he was a maths Teacher at Hawuka High school before he joined Ximoko Progressive Party in 1992.

His experience led to his employment as Logistics Clerk in the office of the Chief Minister of Gazankulu where he was responsible for Parliamentary Constituency and Chieftaincy support. He became President of Ximoko Youth in 1993. During the funeral of Prof HWE Ntsanwisi, Seseni was amongst the pallbearers as youth brigade leader.

As employee in the Chief Minister’s office, Seseni was redeployed to the office of the Premier as Youth officer at Limpopo Youth Commission responsible for projects, Youth Policy development and Events.
He was exposed to Youth development exchange programs where he travelled to the Netherlands, Swaziland and USA.

Fast forward to 2004, he resigned and pursued a career as Motor sales person at Supreme Cars and Auto Pedigrees; and worked for VW Polokwane where he became a Top sales man.
In 2008, when Congress of the People (COPE) was formed, he became an active Member who was responsible for mobilizing support in the Mopani and Vhembe Districts as parliamentary candidate for Limpopo Legislature.

In 2010 he started his own vehicles sales company Auto Supreme as. In 2012 he ventured into Taxi industry as an owner; and construction industry as a housing developer, the projects currently running.

During Seseni’s interview with GRC on April 12 2017 representing COPE, Thembani Gift Maswanganyi (one of the callers) presented an opportunity to found a new Political Party called Gazankulu National Congress.

On the 15 April 2017 a General Meeting new steering committee was formed. Seseni was endorsed as acting President, Mtileni Emanuel as Deputy President and Maswanganyi as Secretary General.
On the 17 September 2017 an application to form a political party was lodged with IEC and the party was approved on 21 November 2017, followed by issuing of a certificate by the IEC on 24 January 2018.
